A 43-year-old man from Southsea has been arrested in connection with a burglary at a property in Newport back in July, as well as a number of knife-point robberies in Havant, Portsmouth, Eastleigh and Southampton.
On 7th July, an individual broke into a house whilst the occupants were out on Clatterford Road on the outskirts of Newport.
This came before a string of knife-point robberies in this month across the Hampshire region.
It’s said that on Wednesday 19th October a man entered the CEX store at the Meridian Centre in Havant and threatened staff with a knife. He attempted to steal 1 of the tills but left shortly afterwards. Nothing was taken.
On the same day, a man entered the CEX store on London Road in Portsmouth, threatened staff with a knife and left with around £1,500.
Yesterday (Monday), a man entered the CEX store on Market Street in Eastleigh with a knife and took cash from the tills. Just hours later a man entered the Co-op store on Parkville Road in Southampton with a knife and stole a pack of beer.
Nobody was injured during any of the incidents.
Officers investigating the robberies and the burglary in Newport arrested a 43-year-old man from Southsea in the Winchester area yesterday (Monday) on suspicion of 3 counts of robbery, 1 count of attempted robbery, 1 count of dwelling burglary, 1 count of possession of a Class A drug and 2 counts of assaulting an emergency worker in connection with an assault that took place during his arrest.
He remains in police custody at the current time.
