Residents in Lake have joined forces with the local Men in Sheds charity to establish the Lake Tidy Team, with financial support from Lake Parish Council funding reflective jackets and future community projects.
The volunteer group, led by Elaine Hayes, has already carried out clean-up operations at the War Memorial and along the cliff path at Battery Gardens.
Members are now looking ahead to further initiatives aimed at improving the appearance of the parish.
Elaine Hayes has said:
“It was heartening to see so many parishioners pop along to our first informal meeting at Gathering Place and, with the help of the Parish Council, there is a groundswell of goodwill to improve the public realm of the parish.”
Chair of Lake Parish Council, Paul Brading, has welcomed the efforts of the volunteers.
Paul said:
“We are really grateful for the work of the tidy team of volunteers already, and the Parish Council look forward to contributing to the plans of the team.”
The newly formed group hopes to build on its early success with further projects designed to benefit the local community.
