In the words of Eiffel 65: “I’m blue da ba dee da ba di”… or at least some children who have paid a visit to the recently reopened East Cowes Paddling Pool are!
Many Isle of Wight families made the journey to the recently refurbished and repainted paddling pool on East Cowes Esplanade over the weekend, following its long awaited and highly anticipated reopening for the Summer season.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the Town Council touted the reopening on social media just 3 days ago. The council listed the improvements made to the pool, including an extensive clean and a new coat of blue rubberised paint.
Unfortunately for some of the children who have taken advantage of the facility, it would appear that the new coat of paint has covered more than just the floor of the pool.
Island Echo has been contacted by several parents who have told of their now blue-tinged children’s plight after the paint from the pool came off from the bottom and applied itself to their skin. One parent said that despite best efforts, the paint just simply will not shift.
Island Echo has approached East Cowes Town Council for a statement regarding the issue.

Supposed to let the paint dry before filling it up…
Oh dear lot of little smurfs in East Cowes then!! Sorry if I didn’t sat it somebody else would’ve. Its terrible the council needs to sort this for kids.
Does just what it says on the tin. (If done under laboratory conditions – otherwise beware)
Well sounds like an bit from Charlie and the chocolate factory. (blue Berrys) just watch out you might get taken to court for theft O blues paint. But REALY joke apart the council should have made sure it was dry first
