Sustainable logistics provider Keert is celebrating a record-breaking 2024, with over 4,568kg of CO2e saved by using cargo bikes instead of diesel vans for local deliveries.
The Isle of Wight CIC also contributed over 388 volunteer hours to support charities and not-for-profits across the Island, underscoring its commitment to environmental and social impact.
Keert’s ultra-low emissions service delivered more than 17,198kg of goods in 2024, covering 11,827 miles by cargo bike (the equivalent of the Isle of Wight to Christchurch in New Zealand).
Matthew Whittaker, Director of Keert, has said:
“By choosing bikes over traditional vans, we’ve saved more than 4.5 tons of CO2e this year, doubling the savings we achieved in 2023. It’s proof of how efficient and sustainable bike logistics can be.”
In addition to their environmental impact, Keert has remained steadfast in supporting local communities, contributing 388 hours of service to local charities and non-profits:
- 425 weekly food deliveries were made to residents unable to access local pantry services, spanning areas including Ventnor, Newport, Ryde, East Cowes, Cowes, and Freshwater.
- Volunteers supported CycleWight’s Kidical Mass events, advocating for safer streets for children. These events featured Keert’s cargo bikes and sound systems, creating a dynamic and impactful presence.
- Behind the scenes, volunteers contributed to improving Keert’s processes, ensuring the business could run more smoothly while continuing to provide valuable services to local charities.
Matthew went on to say:
“Our volunteers are the heart of what we do.
“Their passion and dedication make it possible for us to increase our impact, from delivering food to campaigning for safer streets.”
Keert also expanded its network of partners in 2024, beginning new relationships with Voi and WightFibre, while continuing to support long-standing clients like French Franks and Tiny Homes Holidays.
The team had the honour of working at the Isle of Wight Festival for the first time, supporting Jaspers Coffee and volunteering behind the scenes for Isle of Wight Pride, showcasing their ability to handle both commercial and community-driven initiatives.
As Keert pedals into 2025, the team remains committed to pushing the boundaries of sustainable logistics and community support.
oh dear..
Excellent news, but China emits 13 BILLION tons of CO2 per year.
And they will continue to do so, they are not
buying into the climate ballsh*t.
And how much CO2 was produced by motor vehicles held up behind these slow moving bikes?
Well done Keert, we need a lot more efforts like this to reduce our dependance on cars. We have become like children, seemingly helpless without motor vehicles, there will come a time when they are unsustainable for most people… what then…
