The Isle of Wight College is thrilled to announce good results from the November 2024 GCSE re-sits, a testament to the hard work and dedication of both students and staff.
Our focus was to help students increase their grades from 3 to 4 or higher, providing them with the essential foundations in English and maths needed for their future careers.
Among the notable achievers, Tyrese Bryan, a public service student, successfully passed his English GCSE. He is eagerly looking forward to progressing to Level 3 Public Services, with aspirations of joining the Police force.
Katie Bellamy, Teaching and Learning Manager for Maths, and Gary Clough, Teaching and Learning Manager for English, have played pivotal roles in driving the November resit outcomes. Katie shared her pride, stating:
“I’m so proud of all the students this year; they’ve really focused, and our flexible and bespoke approach to learning seems to have really paid off.”
Ros Parker, OBE, expressed her immense pride in the students, remarking:
“The success of the November GCSE re-sits showcases the resilience and hard work of our students. It’s heartening to see their dedication to academic excellence, which not only paves the way for further education but empowers them to pursue their career goals with confidence.”
The Isle of Wight College is committed to continuous improvement and providing the necessary support for every student to succeed.
The next Isle of Wight College open day is being held on Saturday, 1st February, from 10:00 to 14:00, at both the Newport and CECAMM (Whippingham) campuses.
It is a shame that these students had to have the additional strain of re sits when they should have the correct teaching in the first place.
The whole system is not what it use to be.
ha ha, the irony, no it is certainly not what it used to be!
