Having clinched fourth place in the final National League standings, and thus a place in the four team play off for this year’s title, the Wightlink Islanders now turn their attention back to the KO Cup and their two-legged semi-final against the Mildenhall Fen Tigers from Suffolk.
The first leg takes place at Smallbrook Stadium tomorrow (Tuesday) at 19:00 in which the Wightlink Islanders will be looking to establish a healthy lead to take with them for the return at West Row that is scheduled to take place this coming Sunday afternoon.
Based on previous results the signs are good, but co-manager Chris Hunt is taking nothing whatsoever for granted…
“Whilst really good from our point of view, those results count for nothing come tomorrow evening and despite operating the rider replacement regulations to cover for the inured Ben Hopwood, it is up to us to go out there, battle for every single and build up that healthy lead we’ll be aiming for to take with us to Suffolk on Sunday.
“Hopefully our fans will be backing us to the hilt from the grandstand and terracing and cheering us onto a handsome victory.”
