6 brave local Hampshire women ran 26.2 miles of the London Virtual Marathon at the weekend, running from West Cowes to Shanklin and back.
The group were raising money for Dreams Come True, a national charity that makes the dreams of seriously ill and life-limited children and young people.
3 of the women are Isle of wight residents – Tayler Kane, Faye Newell and Bianca Morgan – joined Gemma Halford, Kerry Holden and Emma Oakley.
One dream that has really inspired these ladies, and for which they are raising money for, is that of a 2-year-old little girl with Lymphoblastic Leukaemia whose only dream is a garden where she can play with her family, away from the gruelling hospital treatments.
This was the first time in history that the London Marathon was held as a virtual event, which attracted 45,000 runners around the world to take part in the iconic event, as well as a host of ‘A’ list professional athletes running a special elite race in biosecure bubble, in front of Buckingham Palace.
As well as being a runner in the event, Gemma Halford also works at Dreams Come True Charity’s Head office in Liphook, so has had first-hand experience of what the funds raised achieve for the children and young people who receive their life-changing dreams.
