VIDEO: A new, modern uniform, which has been designed to work with Hovertravel’s new craft, has been launched this week.
Unveiled at a staff catwalk show, the uniform has been photographed on board the world’s newest passenger hovercraft which also shows some of the interior for the first time.
The new uniforms are part of a programme of improvements to further boost customer service at Hovertravel, which also includes refreshing the terminals and ensuring staff are in areas where they can help customers most effectively.
Hovertravel’s Commercial and Marketing Manager Loretta Lale said:
“The launch of these new uniforms is an important step as we conclude what is the biggest investment in passenger hovercraft in the world and for more than a generation.
“This will see two new hovercraft crossing the Solent, offering a faster journey than any other ferry operator. We are keen to help keep people moving and communities prospering, helping to drive economic growth across the whole Solent region.
“For our new uniforms it was important to identify colours that would not replicate, but rather complement and accentuate through the subtle use of red accents, the craft livery. We proposed shape concepts for garments that won’t date, deliberately avoiding the latest fashion statements and instead creating a classic edge but with a clean finish and quality feel”.

Hovertravel staff were involved at every step of the way, taking part in the development of the new garments through workshops and feedback sessions which took on board comments and suggestions to finalise the uniform’s design. This is the first update of the uniform in over a decade and the new clothing has been created with comfort, durability, sustainability and attention to detail in mind.
Jeff Hunter, Chief Contracts Officer at Hunter Apparel Solutions Ltd said:
“Hunter Apparel is delighted to partner with Hovertravel for the design and delivery of their new uniform clothing. We look forward to being involved at this exciting new phase of the Hovertravel success story as they launch their new craft”.
