Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones says the manner in which Henry Nowak lost his life is a national tragedy.
In a statement released today after Henry’s killer, Vickrum Digwa was found sentenced to life for his murder with a minimum tariff of 21 years, the Commissioner said:
“It is clear the way in which Henry died is harrowing.
“Today we have heard from Henry’s family, and the lifelong grief they will endure.
“Henry was falsely accused of racially aggravated assault as he lay dying on the ground, while his attacker stood by denying the violent act he had inflicted upon him.
“The incident that led to Henry being arrested and handcuffed was part of Digwa’s cruel intentions to frame himself as the victim.
“It is devasting the officers did not believe Henry when he said he’d been stabbed and couldn’t breathe.
“When officers realised he was gravely wounded, they uncuffed him and started CPR.
“His death is a national tragedy.
“The details of the police response raises serious concerns about police impartiality, fairness and judgement.
“Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has apologised for handcuffing and arresting Henry minutes before he died.
“The force also referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) the day after Henry lost his life.
“The findings of the IOPC review will be published, and as Commissioner I am committed to ensuring the findings are implemented without delay.
“Central to this incident is the fact that Vickrum Digwa was able to carry a knife in public because there is an exemption for those who observe the Sikh faith to carry ceremonial daggers.
“As Commissioner, I intend to write to the Prime Minister to request a national review of the laws concerning the carrying of bladed articles under religious exemptions.
“Nothing can bring Henry back. There is no doubt Henry’s last moments were terrifying.
“My thoughts my remain with his family and I will do everything I can to ensure this can never happen again in this country.”

A shocking case. Will Starmer set up an enquiry? Into state sponsored bias against millions.
Handcuffed!!!. The senior police officer in charge of this force should be sacked.
She does know that ultimately the buck stops with her? It’s her responsibility to ensure the Chief Constable educates officers NOT to be so bloody gullible and woke.
Just another example of the disease of wokeism invading our services.
Apparently only white people can be guilty of racism as far as the police are concerned. A coloured person on a march screaming hate but carrying a Palestinian flag has the police looking the other way. A white guy on a march carrying a British flag is labelled ‘divisive’. A white guy carrying an Israeli flag could well be arrested for being ‘provocative’.
People are being abused or assaulted or dying because they’re white and our public services are more scared of upsetting brown people than anything else.
Truly, there are some events that demand that someone in authority directly accept responsibility and resign. No question. No waiting for outcome of commissions of inquiry. No waiting for internal action.
Who will step up to the mark? The Chief Constable? The Police and Crime Commissioner? Who will take responsibility for these most ghastly events?
The police, like the rest of us, are afraid of being accused of racial prejudice, so they have immediately jumped to the defence of Digwa, the man legally carrying a dagger.
ALL knives should be banned, the fact that this scumbag was carrying 2 knives, one because he has to because of “religion” and the other a 20cm blade, ban any blades. Religion and Racism cries should now NOT be a priority for the police. Just imagine if it was you dying on the ground, being handcuffed, and being read your rights, it is sickening. The police need a big big overhaul. As for Starmer, no point getting him or labour to do anything, he doesn’t care about true British people. There is only one minority in the UK now, white, British working class. I am ready for the “Oh your far right” comment, but do you know what, I don’t care, I am not far right, I just want rights restored!!! Keir Starmer should go.
“Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has apologised for handcuffing and arresting Henry minutes before he died.”
Oh, that’s alright then is it?
“My thoughts my remain with his family and I will do everything I can to ensure this can never happen again in this country.”
Exactly WHAT will you do?
Write to the halfwit idiot Two Tier Starmer?
How many more times have we to hear this pathetic cry, “this can never happen again”, until it DOES and will continue to do so until the decent people of this country take action.
Jones has lost about 3 stones in weight and now thinks that she is some sort of Torygirl photo-op “model”.
She is not.
Like Bozo Johnson and all the other lying Tories, she is a waste of oxygen.
Time for a wholesale clear out of her Party.
Well done for actually addressing the religious knife carrying. We’re a wonderful, open nation, but, if you want to live here, you really must abide by our law’s and traditions. You have a choice. No-one is forced to migrate to Britain. Sadly this one evil Seikh has let down all his peaceful brethren.
It’s against the law to carry a knife in Britain so when in Britain you should be abiding by OUR LAWS!!
This needs to be dealt with it’s beyond belief.
If someone from overseas commits a crime here in Britain then they should have to return from wherever they came from. That would save millions of pounds.
Unfortunately laws seem to only refer to the few.
Law in Britain should be the same whoever you are.
The best thing we can do as individuals is to try to make native Englishmen feel as welcome on the island as possible and do the oppistie towards non-native invaders.
