VIDEO: A firefighter from Hampshire is to take on the challenge of walking this coming Sunday’s Walk the Wight in full firefighter uniform.
Matthew Horne from Rushmoor Fire Station is raising funds for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice by taking part in Walk the Wight 2016 – all 26.5 miles of it. It was Matt’s original plan to run the Bembridge to The Needles route, that was until it was suggested he take part in the fundraiser whilst wearing his firefighting kit, including breathing apparatus.
The fundraising efforts were prompted by Matt’s sister’s battle with cancer, a battle Sue sadly lost at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice last week.
Matt said:
“Thank you so much to everyone that has supported me so far. I am made up with the amount of love and support out there”.
Matt has already raised an incredible £700 via his Justgiving page, https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sistersuexx?. Any donations are much appreciated.
