Newport’s Orchard House has decided to treat essential services workers to breakfast with free takeaways. The initiative aims to acknowledge and support the hardworking individuals who provide essential services, offering them a small but meaningful token of gratitude. Whether they’re healthcare workers, emergency responders, or public service staff, these workers can stop by Orchard House – located on Fairlee Road – grab a delicious breakfast, and continue their vital work feeling appreciated and fuelled for the day ahead. If you’re part of the Island’s essential services, or a community nurse or carer, drop into Orchard House every Wednesday, from 29th May to 26th June, from 07:30-10:00 for a pastry, bacon roll or fresh fruit salad and a coffee or tea.
FREE BREAKFAST FOR ISLAND’S ESSENTIAL WORKERS EVERY WEDNESDAY THANKS TO ORCHARD HOUSE

What a fabulous gesture.
It’s a grand gesture. I know many paramedics who go from one incident to another without a break, without a chance to de-escalate what they have just experienced.
When I was a nipper and volunteered at the Isle of Wight County Hospital, Ryde, the cooks would make up nammit boxes for the ambulance crews. I remember one Staff Nurse telling me, “Mum’s the word,” as this wasn’t supposed to happen.
Feed the old farts first
What on earth is wrong with you? can’t you say anything other than insulting and foul mouthed rubbish.
Straight to my knees for the next day or two
What is an essential worker ?
What is essential to some people is not essential to others.
Do they have to clap as well?
And roll up their sleeves for some more Pharma treats.
