Retained firefighters have worked with RSPCA officers to rescue a fox trapped 3 metres down a drain in Cowes this afternoon (Thursday).
1 appliance was mobilised to an animal rescue following reports of a fox trapped in an area between 2 buildings.
Firefighters improvised using chimney rods, JAFCO handles, personal lines and RSPCA equipment to successfully free the animal.
The fox is now in the care of the RSPCA.

Very lucky fox, glad it’s OK.. i don’t like to see animals suffering..
However, I expect some views on this forum will post their usual venum..
Like you I’ll be surprised if there isn’t any venom posted. Nice to see the fox rescued unharmed. My opinion for what it’s worth is that the fox has every right to live on this planet as do humans. This applies to all animals, insects, birds, fish etc., etc., it shouldn’t be hard to co exist. Can’t wait for the usual venom and attempted moronic humour. The RSPCA will check it out and rerelease when the times right. Well done the retained firefighters.
Like you Clare glad foxis ok and well done all those.involved in its rescue.
Well done! Good work 🙂
Well done RSPCA & the Fire Fighters. Heart warming story instead of the usual moaning & groaning. Keep up the good work. Xxx
Glad fox is safe ,well done to the firefighters
Well done for saving him or her . Beautiful animals that get such a raw deal .
Well done lads. So proud that YOU care, and do your best to rescue animals.
You are light years apart from the low life that is gutless and cowardly who hurt animals.
Well done fire brigade and RSPCA.
