The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has touched down on the golf course at Binstead this lunchtime (Saturday), as flying medics tend to a poorly woman.
It was shortly before midday that the assistance of the HEMS team – now based out of Southampton – was requested to provide enhanced medical care to a seriously ill patient, with a view to transporting them to the mainland.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service received a 999 call reporting the woman’s medical emergency, thought to be cardiac-related, leading to an ambulance crew, rapid response paramedic and a critical care paramedic being mobilised.
UPDATE @ 12:35 – The patient has been flown directly to the mainland, landing at Solent Airport, Lee-on-Solent for onward conveyance to a specialist hospital.
