East Cowes pub, The Folly Inn, hosted an exclusive locals only summer party, the pub’s first major community event, on Thursday (2nd May), to celebrate all things Isle of Wight and welcome in the summer. Situated in East Cowes, the pub welcomed around 200 residents, including local councillors, businesses and pubgoers, to enjoy a night of fun, celebrating the rich history of the Island and enjoying some of the best entertainment the Isle of Wight has to offer. Revellers enjoyed an evening packed with live music, traditional wooden garden games, a vintage ice cream van, food, drink and more. Plus, guests captured memories with a magical photo mirror and enjoyed performances from local musician, Ben Stubbs and The Solent Shanty Buoys – favourites at the Yarmouth Sea Songs and Shanties Festival.
Victoria Murphy, General Manager of The Folly Inn, said:
“Our team at The Folly Inn are so proud to have started the summer with a bang with our first community event being a resounding success. “Having recently joined the team as General Manager, alongside my husband Lee as Assistant General Manager, we wanted to create a welcoming environment for everyone, generating a hub for the local community, and we hope that Thursday’s event showed just that. “Our aim is to solidify The Folly Inn at the heart of the Isle of Wight community, and we can’t wait to welcome customers both old and new to our pub. We hope our summer party marks the start of what is sure to be a fantastic season for the island and it was certainly a night to remember.”
Alongside appointing a new General Manager, the pub has also introduced a new menu. The pub itself boasts traditional character and heritage features combined with contemporary décor and furnishings, plus bi-fold doors along two elevations, offering visitors views over the water. The Folly Inn has its own jetty for local boat users to access the pub by yacht or water taxi; the garden offers pergola covered seating and its own popular fish and chip shop.

‘Exclusive Locals Party’? Whatever happened to the concept of a ‘Public House’?
Load of Caulkheads in one place, best to go elsewhere.
But you live on the island?
Only because over half the island is Overnors
Just imagine all those “DL”Numpty’s all under one roof, couldn’t think of
anything worse.
Just to keep your records up to date… We’re called ‘HW’ Numpty’s these days… 😉
Half Wits, use to be known as ‘DL’ Dopey Locals.

We had a very nice meal there the other day. Fantastic views & fantastic service from the the very friendly & helpful staff. Certainly will be returning. We’ll done to all.
How nice to read a sensible comment instead of all the spiteful and childish ones that plague these articles.
I wonder how many “councillors” were on a freebie, courtesy of the folly?
too expensive, road to get to it is an assault course,no thanks, for what it would cost for a meal and a couple of beers you could buy a weekly shop!

Food has always been awful since Greene & King took it over a few years ago.. Staff leave a lot to be desired also… Would not go back.. They can’t seem to get it right
