Children as young as 3-years-old are to be taught life-saving first aid skills thanks to Newport-based Wave Training, who are the first and only company on the Island to offer ‘Flat Stan’, an unique training package designed specifically for young children.
To expand on the work they are already doing in local primary schools, Wave Training has invested in a new way to teach life-saving first aid skills to young children from the age of just 3. They are now looking to expand their workshops into pre-schools and mother & baby groups across the Isle of Wight.
Flat Stan teaches what to do in an emergency, how to get help and how to deal with bumps, bleeding, burns, unconsciousness and choking. It is delivered through simplified and child-friendly information leaflets and soft-touch manikins.
James Westcott, CEO of Wave Training Ltd said:
“The company ethos of Wave Training is to have as many people first aid trained as possible. Flat Stan echos this perfectly.
“By bringing first aid to a young audience, we truly are setting chiildren up with this skill for life.
“I am delighted that the company has this fantastic equipment and opportunity”.
A parent and child workshop is being held at Wave Training at the Innovation Centre, Newport on 25th July.
