A Freshwater man who admitted acting in a drunk and disorderly manner inside a Newport kebab shop has been fined £40.
Harry Rimell, 25, of Millways in Freshwater admitted drunk and disorderly in a public place when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (Friday 3rd January).
Prosecuting, Liz Miller, told the court that in the early hours of the 15th December, security staff at the Hogs Head in Newport descended on a nearby kebab shop after receiving information that Rimmel had a knife in his possession – something which didn’t turn out to be true.
Once inside the premises, an altercation ensued in which damage was caused to several pieces of Rimmel’s property including his glasses. The 25-year-old then proceeded to shout expletives at those inside the takeaway shop.
Defending the 25-year-old, Oscar Vincent told the court that Rimmel still has no idea why the door staff were accusing him of possessing a bladed article and that before the incident in question the evening had gone without issue.
Magistrates handed the 25-year-old a £40 fine and ordered he pay £85 costs and a £16 surcharge fee.
Only a fine, needs banging up, there are too many
