Police, fire and ambulance crews are attending a collision between 2 cars on Brading Down Road this morning (Tuesday).
The incident has occurred at the entranceway to one of the viewpoint car parks overlooking Sandown Bay.
Emergency services were alerted to the collision at around 11:00, prompting fire crews from Ryde and Shanklin to respond to the scene alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The road remains open under the direction of Police.
UPDATE @ 11:40 – It has been confirmed that no one is trapped inside either vehicle, despite initial fears. 1 fire appliance has now stood down from the incident, with the second remaining in the interests of scene safety.
Those involved are described as being walked wounded.
UPDATE @ 12:20 – It has been revealed that 1 of the vehicles involved, a Volvo XC90, left the road as a result of the collision impact.
Firefighters have praised the safety technology in modern cars as, despite leaving the road, the driver was able to walk away from the crash – thanks to the deployment of all airbags.

Due care and attention in your metal cage please
Let us be thankful that everyone walked away from this alive. It’s true that no-one needs an accident right before Christmas, but a loss of life is something nobody should have to endure.
Cars can be replaced, but lives cannot.
Do these people drive with their eyes closed??
They need to slow down a bit too!!
‘At the car park entrance’ … Just how did that happen?
It only takes one idiot, and there’s plenty of them on our roads….
judging by the number of cretins who cut through the one way link outside the bowling alley the wrong way there are plenty around, obviously incapable of understanding the two simple words “NO ENTRY” and cyclists ignore the no entry signs as they don’t apply to them.
There is only one way that it could happen; a car has pulled into or off the car park inthe path a of a car coming along the main road-probably at speed. Driving without due care and attention in either case. The road there is fairly straight with good visibility in both directions. I have been there many times-there is simply no excuse for their ever to be an accident there, IF you are driving properly !
How on earth did this happen. All to common on the IOW at the moment
I wonder how long it’ll be before someone pipes up and says ‘oh, it might have been a medical episode’ , or defend this incompetent driving in some other way….. Maybe it’ll get deleted on this occasion. As far as I can see, 6 out of the 13 comments so far have been removed……
On this occasion, I think that both insurance companies should not pay out, as both drivers were obviously at fault. Nobody was injured, so hit both parties in the pocket where it hurts.
They both need a retest or just ban them from driving indefinitely.
Obviously? Are we all missing something?… Like all of the facts? I’d be most upset if I were carefully making my way along a road in my car and somebody flew out of a carpark and sideswiped me and my family, then trying to blame me. I’m not saying that’s what happened, somebody is clearly at fault but you can’t conclude anything from this article, if you have further details and facts then this should be related directly to the investigating officers. Seasons greetings btw
Well it ain’t rocket is it, one car speeding and not looking and another car pulling out with out due care and attention, simples.
Must be both cars at fault otherwise it would not have happened.
Ps and to you sir.
