A drink driver who reversed into a Police car has been handed an 18-month driving ban.
Daniel Frampton, 20, of York Avenue, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (Friday 29th May) charged with a single count of drink driving.
The court heard how on the morning of 26th April at around 09:00, Frampton driving his Ford Fiesta stopped in front of a Police vehicle on The Willows, Newport.
Shortly after stopping, Frampton reversed into the front of the constabulary vehicle, causing front-end damage.
As a result of the collision, a roadside breath test was conducted in which an above-level reading for alcohol was returned. Further tests conducted at Newport Police Station showed that Frampton was nearly 2x the legal drink drive limit.
Defending the 20-year-old builder, Oscar Vincent told the court that his client had been out drinking the night before and that he felt ‘okay to drive’ the following morning.
Magistrates handed Frampton an 18-month driving ban and ordered he pay a fine of £241, £85 costs and a £96 surcharge fee.
