A 45-year-old man from Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a car ploughed into 2 parked vehicles in Cowes last night (Sunday).
Officers were called at 19:00 following reports of a multi-vehicle collision on Newport Road in Cowes, near Cowes Medical Centre.
The collision saw a VW Touran collide with a parked MG which in turn collided with a parked Ford Transit. The 2 parked vehicles sustained significant damage with both described by a witness as ‘write-offs’.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Paramedics and a single fire appliance from Cowes were also called to the scene.
Police have confirmed that at the scene a 45-year-old man from Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit.
He remains in police custody this morning (Monday).
Newport Road was closed for around 2 hours whilst the incident was dealt with and the vehicles were recovered.
Antything to do with the vehicles that regularly park on the double-yellows and even over the crossing exclusion zone?

If what you say is the case, if the numpties were parked illegally
their insurance will be void!

Drink driving kills innocent people
Nobody disagrees that drink driving is serious, that’s exactly why arrests, breathalysers and prosecutions exist. The driver was caught, arrested and taken into custody, which means the law worked as intended. Calling for toughness after enforcement has already happened doesn’t add anything, it just repeats what’s already being done.
