A dog has been reunited with its owner after being rescued by Coastguards at Yaverland this afternoon (Wednesday).
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor were called into action, alongside Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service, after reports were received of an animal in trouble on the cliff between Yaverland and Culver.
It’s understood the animal bolted up the cliff from the beach below and failed to return after a significant period of time.
After a 20-minute search through the undergrowth on a flattened part of the cliff, following the sound of barking as they went, Coastguard Rescue Officers found the dog safe and well.
The animal has since been reunited with its emotional owner after being assisted down the cliff.
HM Coastguard teams are standing down from the incident.

I don’t pay my taxes to bail out incompetent dog owners.
Hardly the owners fault if a dog out of the blue runs up a cliff. A beach is somewhere where it is usually safe to let your dog run freely.
People who get stuck often should know better but an animal is innocent to the dangers and the owners never realised it would bolt up the cliff.
Your contribution of a millionth of a penny tax contribution for this operation must worry you to death.
It’s a dog friendly beach so a bit of consideration for dog lovers yes thay can be a pain in the ass but thay are like are kids and if it was u kid suck up there u be grateful for all the help to there some sad ppl about
