UPDATED: Ryde based businesswoman Dee Becker has begun her 106km Isle of Wight Challenge this morning (Saturday) and will – over the next 30 hours or so – walk around the whole coast of the Isle of Wight.
Entering into her 60th year and determined to get fit and ‘give something back’, Dee wanted to embark on a challenge that would be both personally demanding and rewarding at the same time. She is hoping to raise a total of £4,000 for the Island’s Earl Mountbatten Hospice, Look Good Feel Better and mynewhair by Salons that Care.
Dee set off from Chale at 09:00 this morning alongside hundreds of other walkers, joggers and runners who will all now head clockwise around the Island. Dee is hoping to cross the finish line at Chale at around 15:00 tomorrow afternoon (Sunday 1st May).
At the beginning of the month, as a final show of commitment to this admirable fundraising challenge, Dee had her head shaved to show her solidarity to those women who experience medical hair loss and to demonstrate that you can still look and feel great whether you choose to wear a personally styled wig or not.
Throughout the walk Dee is sporting Hovertravel’s logo painted onto her head as a thank you to the cross-Solent operator for supporting her cause.

UPDATE SUNDAY: Dee has sadly withdrawn from the event at the Oakfield Primary School stop having completed an amazing 67km.
An excruciating blister brought Dee’s challenge to an end.
