Emergency services are currently responding to a road traffic collision on the main road between Carisbrooke and Shorwell this morning (Tuesday).
The incident occurred at around 08:55 along Bowcombe Road just past Bowcombe Farm Lane.
It is believed that 2 cars have collided with one another. It is unclear if the cold icy conditions played a part in the crash.
A fire appliance from Newport is en route to the incident, with the Police yet to arrive.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 10:35 – Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that no injuries to any of the involved parties have been reported.
Traffic in the area remains whilst recovery of the 2 vehicles is arranged.

I notice that plod are late to the party again.
Cars need to slow down when the weather is cold becouse of ice ect.
Normal drivers need to follow the old drivers lead on this occasion.
Also, stop parking on the pavements, especially outside the chav houses on Great Preston rd.
The plod as you refer 2 get to the accident as quickly and safely as possible ….
With all they deal have to deal with I in my opinion I feel that they do a very good job, re all the c- – p that they cope with ….
Wind you’re neck in …..
Try there job for a shift ?????
No you couldn’t cope !!!!!
Oh yes i could……especially on a little rock like this…..
BUT, I think i might think twice about joining the MET or something similar….oink oink.
with all the road closures, we are lucky they arrived at all…
Etc, is abbreviated as Etc not Ect Ting Tong are you Isle of Wight?
Two things : 1. ‘OLD’ drivers are normal. 2. ‘etc’ is is delineated thus, not ect.
What a twattish comment. The Fire brigade were not at the scene either , they were en route, as also were the police.
I knew it would not be long before a bad driver came out again… keep it going folks, the more bad drivers that get out there and wreck their cars, the sooner they will no longer pose a threat to other thoughtful drivers..
So, if this was a minor collision with no injuries, why were the police called?
In the old days, if you had an accident in your car you swapped insurance details etc and sorted things out. We didn’t call the police unless there was an injury to one of the drivers or passengers. Who is it that’s actually calling the police in these instances when it’s just the vehicles damaged?
And, I suppose I should ask, why is that what sounds like a normal, run of the mill accident i.e. no injuries, is even reported as ‘news’? I’m starting to think literally every collision between two motor vehicles ends up here just to get clicks and comments. And, yes, I see the irony of actually writing that!
Depends what is reported to the emergency services at the time. If the report was of an accident and people were possibly trapped, then fire and police are despatched…..but when they get there the occupants are out and uninjured. Happens a lot.
Another probable non-essential journey causing traffic mayhem. I bet they were off out to M&S at that ungodly hour to have an important cup of tea or buy an essential christmas biscuit selection box. Don’t these morons listen to the weather forecast?
At last, a sensible comment,
they were probably going to the tip with their one bag of grass cuttings for a natter.
But to be fair, not ALL elderly drivers are morons.
Grow up and start making sensible comments youself that don’t involve insults.
You what pettal…?
I ain’t insulted anyone.
I love old people, they won us the war, or their grandfathers did ?
I love you also “KEVIN”. What a lovely name…..x
