The sudden death of a 59-year-old man in Ventnor last year has been ruled drug-related following a behind-closed-doors Section 9c inquest.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the sudden death of a male at an address on Albert Street in Ventnor on 30th November 2024.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service responded to the scene, but, sadly, 59-year-old Karl Douglas Kelley was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was discovered, during a Section 9C inquest earlier this month, that Mr Kelley had suffered a cardiac arrhythmia from his recreational use of cocaine and alcohol, in combination with his left ventricular hypertrophy.
HM Senior Coroner Caroline Sumeray ruled his death was drug-related.
At the time of his death, Mr Kelley, who was born in Nottingham in 1965, was employed as a general labourer living on High Street in Ventnor.

Oh well what a shame
You knew him then?
