A road sign has been laid flat to the ground after being struck by a car on a relatively straight stretch of road in East Cowes this afternoon (Thursday).
Police were called to Crossways Road at 16:12 following reports that a car had collided with a sign which indicated Osbourne House as a local tourist attraction.
Despite there being no obvious bend to negotiate at the point of impact, the roadside furniture appears to have come off considerably worse from the encounter.
Photographs from the scene show the force of the collision.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that no injuries were reported following the collision.
It remains unclear how the incident occurred.
