Police are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man in his 50s in Ventnor.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called at 09:56 this morning (Saturday) to a report of a sudden death at an address on Albert Street.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service responded to the scene but, sadly, a man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin has been informed and a file is to be prepared for the coroner.
Officers remain in the area this afternoon as they work to establish the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
Investigations are thought to include whether the male attended a party at the property overnight.
