Coastguard Rescue Teams were tasked to Gurnard earlier this morning (Thursday) after a large RIB was found washed ashore.
Ventnor and The Needles Coastguard Rescue Teams were sent to the scene just West of Egypt Point, where the vessel was found on the shingles up against the sea wall, at just before 08:00.
The boat, which according to insignia on its stern has connections to the Royal Thames Yacht Club, had made its way over shoreline rocks before coming to rest on the beach.
Little damage can be seen to the boat, although its propellor is visibility damaged by beach debris.
An investigation was carried out by Coastguard Officers to ensure that nobody was in distress or lost, and the teams stood down shortly after.
The boat remains on the shore at Gurnard.
UPDATE – The owner of the RIB has made themselves known and confirmed they are safe and well.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.

This vessel came into the petrol station in Newport yesterday.
Looks like one moored up at about 19:30 last night (14th) on the eastern-most trot buoy off Cowes Green. Didn’t see how the driver disembarked.
