The discovery of a paddleboard and a kayak amongst moorings in Seagrove Bay prompted a callout for the Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team this afternoon (Saturday).
The team was tasked by HM Coastguard at just after 16:20 to establish if anyone was in danger or distress at sea following a report made by a concerned informant.
Coastguard Rescue Officers first attended Bembridge Marina before heading to Seagrove Bay.
A search of the beach was carried out with CRO’s using binoculars to check for anyone visibly in need of aid within the moorings and in the surrounding areas.
No one was found to be in need of help, and the team stood down at just after 17:20.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
