Coastguard Rescue Officers have been joined by paramedics in caring for a casualty found on the roadside in Shanklin tonight (Monday).
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team was en-route to another emergency at Shanklin Seafront when officers came across an individual in need of assistance on Church Road, next to Big Mead.
Using their immediate care knowledge and equipment, Coastguards have cared for the individual ahead of the arrival of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The casualty is now being taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance.
Having concluded both the incident at Shanklin Esplanade and this separate incident at Church Road, Ventnor CRT is now standing down and returning to station.

On such a cold night, the poor casualty, the coastguards assisted, alls well we hope now. Our services are special along with the paramedics, lifeboat volunteers, fire service and police when it comes to helping those in distress.
That’s their job. Do you thank toilet cleaners?
Tony I lost my front tooth
What’s wrong with thanking people for cleaning toilets? And why would you take the time to condemn someone for praising people who help other people in need?
That’s what they willingly joined and get paid for, would you praise shop worker’s that ensure you are fed? Or refuge collection working in all weather’s? ect ect …We are all part of the machinery that helps use live our lives….
A wonderful idea to acknowledge and thank shop workers and refuse collection workers. We have much and many people to be grateful for, if we take the time to notice.
