Isle of Wight woman Charlotte Fisher completed the Ultra Trail Snowdonia, the hardest 100-mile mountain race in Europe, for charity last weekend. On Friday, Charlotte set off from Llanberis in Snowdonia to embark on the race, which involved over 9,500ft of positive elevation, more than climbing Everest. The terrain was extremely harsh and difficult, combined with unprecedentedly hot temperatures. Despite being unwell and hospitalised leading up to the race, Charlotte was determined to complete it to raise money for Mountbatten in memory of her aunt, Jane. She was due to run Trans Gran Canaria back in February 2023. Charlotte has only been running for just over a year with her first race being the Isle of Wight Ultra in April 2023, where she won. She went on to win Centurion’s North Down Way 100-mile race in August last year. Of the 260 athletes starting the Snowdonia 100-mile race, only 99 finished, with over 62% unable to complete it. To date, Charlotte has raised over £1,200 through her Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/charlotte-fisher-snowdonia100miles.
