Around 30 Wight Tri members took part in the latest Carisbrooke Duathlon on Sunday (16th November), setting off from the Priory car park for a challenging multi-discipline course.
The event opened with a run of either one or two laps around the streets near Carisbrooke Castle, finishing with a steep climb to test competitors’ legs early on. Riders then headed out on the bike leg, taking on an undulating route that included the descent into Carisbrooke, the climb towards Shorwell and a tough headwind on the approach to Billingham before returning to the finish.
In the nominated time competition, Kellie Carmichael finished just 32 seconds outside her prediction, with Jack Elton-Walter missing his by 31 seconds. The closest of all was Sean Williams, who came within 15 seconds to take the accuracy title.
The fastest long-course athlete was Craig Wilson in 1:18:06, while Dean Pike topped the short-course standings in 58:48 despite carrying a recent ankle injury. In the women’s short course, newcomer Jade Davies impressed with a time of 1:07:04.
Wight Tri’s next event will be the Strawberry Pain on 7th December 2025.
