A car burst into flames moments after crashing into a parked vehicle in Gunville during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
Emergency services were called to Gunville Road on the outskirts of Newport at around 02:00 following reports of a road traffic collision.
Island Echo understands that a Mercedes-Benz crashed into a parked Range Rover, which in turn shunted into another parked vehicle, an Audi. All 3 cars were heavily damaged.
Shockingly, the Mercedes then caught light and an inferno engulfed the vehicle – which is thought to have been brand new.
It is reported that an arrest has taken place in connection with the incident. Hampshire Constabulary have been approached for a statement.
UPDATE MONDAY @ 09:23 – A 27-year-old woman from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
It has been confirmed that both the driver and passenger of the Mercedes suffered injuries to their face as a result of the collision.
Enquiries are ongoing.

I bet the criminal responsible will NEVER, ever, pay one thousandth of the cost of the damage done.
Some dappy charity, as heard on the radio today, will do as they are doing to ‘young offenders’ and taking them horse ridding, with the ‘punishment’ of a ‘half arsed’ mucking out session, which decent, normal, non scum, have to do daily.
Rubbish like that should be forced into a special army unit for low life, and given ten years minimum to help other poverty victims around the world, under military law.
No petty sentence here, and having to ‘attend’ driving lessons, or anger classes will change this rubbishes mind set.
Your comments are completely irrelevant to this news item. Is 27 a Young Offender? Someone will be banging on about a fixed link next!
@Superman If we had a fixed link this would not of happened……..
😀
Explain please?
Change your name to bitter and twisted
Keep on winding people up, you’re doing a good job.
Unless I’ve missed sumthing or people were that at time we’re foes it say drink driving
??
Just a couple of pointers. Firstly, try spelling properly, what you have done is make the reader think you are some sort of illiterate bumpkin. Secondly, having checked your spelling, try arranging those words into an intelligible sentence.
Not nice. We’re not all blessed with good literate ability.
They are typing all the right letters, but not necessarily in the right order.
It says above ‘the woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving’.
Thanks Martin, for interpreting. For future reference what other languages do you specialise in?
I’m learning Gibberish so that I might be able to understand some the comments posted here . . .

Well said Superman and Old bean.
I completely ignore his comments these days. Makes things easier. Hope he doesn’t change his name.
