A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving after a BMW crashed and caught fire in Brighstone late last night (Sunday).
Police were called to a single-vehicle collision on Hunny Hill, Brighstone, at 22:10.
A silver BMW crashed before catching fire, prompting a response from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the vehicle became completely engulfed by flames, forcing the temporary closure of the B3399 between Mottistone and Brighstone while emergency services dealt with the incident.
A 45-year-old man from Ventnor was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving.
He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
