On Sunday 8th September, two Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team riders travelled to Newbury for the first race of the Cyclocross season.
James Brett & Martin Sanders joined a field of over 50 riders, and in a race like this positioning was vital from the start. This didn’t work out for either rider as they got held up on the first corner due to a crash. However after 2 laps in, they both managed to push on through the field with James finishing in 15th place and Martin finishing in 30th.
That wasn’t the only action for the team last week, as on Wednesday (11th September), Ian Hayden also of the Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team headed over to the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth for another round of crit racing.
In the 3rd-4th category race, keen to add more point towards his next licence category after gaining points in the previous Wednesday’s race.
Hayden took to the start line in what were pretty horrible conditions and was active from the start, at times chasing down breaks and bringing the race back together.
All this endeavour paid off when the race hurtled to a frenetic finish, and Hayden swept through to take 8th place, gaining more points towards his 3rd category licence.
