After the recent exit of star players Charlie Smeeton and Scott Sampson to Winchester City from Newport Football Club, manager Steve Brougham has signaled his intentions to stay with the leading pack by signing a new player.
Highly-rated Portsmouth Academy player George Colson has joined Newport IW Football Club and goes straight into the squad for today’s FA Vase trip to Hook Norton.
Manager Steve Brougham has said:
“George is only a young lad who will bring energy to the squad, which is what we need. He is versatle and can play at right-back but also in midfield. He’s going to be a great addition to the team and he’s available for tomorrow.”
In other news, Steve Taylor has left his position as manager of Newport IW Reserves and in comes Stewart Shepherd who returns to the club. Alex Boirand will continue as assistant.
