Amazon World’s female Ocelot, Olijfje, has sadly passed away aged 18, the zoological park has confirmed.
In a statement on their Facebook page, the park said that the Ocelot died peacefully surrounded by her keepers.
Born at a zoo in Dortmund in Germany, Olijfje came to the Isle of Wight in October 2015 from Dierenrijk in the Netherlands joining the park’s resident male Bow.
The pair produced 2 kittens both born at the park, Oz in 2016 and Zuri in 2019.
A spokesperson for Amazon World has said:
“She had a fiery personality, most days she liked to hiss at her keepers if they were being too slow serving up her dinner, after 7 years we knew this was just her way of saying Thank You”
