Lord-Lieutenant Susie Sheldon has this week presented Newport-based firm A.J Wells & Sons Ltd with a prestigious King’s Award.
Founded on the Isle of Wight in 1972, A.J Wells & Sons is a family-run business with a dedicated team of 172 employees. The company, which operates from Dodnor Estate in Newport, is renowned for its design and manufacture of CHARNWOOD clean-burning wood stoves, VLAZE outdoor kitchens, and cutting-edge architectural vitreous enamel solutions.
Additionally, they are known for producing much of the signage and cladding for the iconic London Underground and Paris Metro systems.
With Europe as its largest export market, A.J Wells & Sons Ltd has expanded its global footprint, reaching markets including North America, South Africa, Japan, and Australia. The company operates its own sales teams in France, Poland, and Ireland, and has a subsidiary in the USA. Over the past 3 years, overseas sales have surged by 115%, with exports now accounting for 31% of the company’s total sales.
This success has led to the awarding of the King’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade. The award was formally presented at the company’s studio on Tuesday afternoon.

They are very religious,their workforce are not forced into any way of thinking whatsoever,worked for them for 8 years,not the best wage payers,and they like getting their money’s worth out of you,they donate a lot of money to their church,for a god where there is no proof he existed,brainwashed at an early age!
