Officers investigating a number of offences in Freshwater, including a burglary, have arrested two boys.
Police were called at 16:45 yesterday (Wednesday) with reports of a burglary in progress at an empty address on Avenue Road, Freshwater.
Attending officers arrested 2 teenage boys from Freshwater nearby, aged 13 and 14 respectively.
They were arrested on suspicion of burglary, but were also arrested on suspicion of the following offences:
- Theft of Red Bull from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 5th January 2023.
- Harassment, relating to an incident at Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 7th January 2023.
- Theft of coffee cups from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 7th January 2023.
- Criminal damage to a door at Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 6th January 2023.
- Theft of chocolate from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 9th January 2023.
The 13-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of 2 further criminal damage incidents, relating to damage to doors and a window at an address on Queens Road, Freshwater on 2nd January and 4th January 2023.
A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary:
“Both boys have been bailed until 11th April while further enquiries are conducted, and we encourage anyone with information about these incidents to contact police on 101, quoting 44230013997.”
And the parents were ??????? Drunk or off there heads on drugs
do you actually have a teenager or any kids at all? he took a red bull and some chocolate you shouldn’t be blaming the parent when the kids know exactly what they are doing…

Just because there is nothing to do in freshwater, does not in any way you look at it mean these low life kids can behave the way they did? The parents should pay for the damage and then they might keep an eye on what their brats are up to?

Make the parents pay for the damage their children have caused. It might, just might make them take more of an interest in what their kids are getting up to and where they go. Parents are legally responsible for their offspring until the age of 18 years. Start being responsible parents!

You’ll find out in April, till then, keep gossiping- they did do some dumb stuff but in all honesty not burglary and not some of the other stuff, they were SUSPECTED of. I actually agree with Caroline, I think the Birch IS a good idea, but there’s no way anyone would allow me to do it, so my hands are tied, my teeth and claws are removed (metaphorically speaking, obvs- !) as is my ability to mother effectively, social services get heavy if you even SHOW anger towards a child – let alone BE angry- there are at least 5 agencies that would come down on me like a ton of bricks.

Ongoing problem with these teens. Police do nothing. The only changes we can make to the UK is by doing a deal with America and European countries to send our long serving prisoners away which would free up our uk prisons and at the same time helping other countries financially building there economy. It cost our country thousands each year to care for them. I hope these scum bags get dealt with!!!

These unruly kids have to learn they can’t go around doing whatever comes into their destructive minds. Burglary, smashing and causing damage to other people’s property and anti-social behaviour in general.

I can personally vouch for the fact that no parent of the roughly 9 kids that have been up and down School Green road for the past 3 or 4 days has been either drunk or on drugs. Of the two children who were arrested, both parents are I believe are single and for that reason were probably rushed off their feet:dealing with other children/paying bills/ cleaning/ getting in the car looking for their neurodiverse child who was grounded for previous behaviour.
Single parents can be stre-tched . Also just because someone is taken in for suspicion of a thing, definitely doesn’t mean they are charged with a thing or did a thing. OR things
I hear Rwanda is a beautiful place where someone’s character might be quickly built! I might go on holiday!

What has happened to the Isle of Wight ? I had the most fantastic childhood living on the Island hardly any crime but now it seems like all the dregs of society have moved there. I cant believe how much crime you have for a tiny Island. Such a shame
