Forecasters at the IW Met Service have tonight (Monday) issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain over the next 2 days, as well as an advisory for strong winds.
A spell of prolonged and at times heavy rain will arrive tomorrow morning (Tuesday) and continue throughout the day, with up to 25mm of rain likely in some locations.
This rainfall will add to the already elevated river levels and some breaching may occur leading to some minor flooding.
During Tuesday evening the rain is likely to turn very heavy for a brief period which may lead to rather hazardous conditions on the roads with surface water and spray.
Tuesday night and into Wednesday will see further showers which could be heavy at times adding to the rainfall totals which may be closer to 35mm by midday Wednesday.
The yellow weather warning is in force from 10:00 tomorrow until 11:00 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, forecasters are also keeping an eye on strong winds for the Isle of Wight, prompting an advisory notice to be issued.
Throughout Tuesday a spell of strong winds will affect the Island with exposed coastal locations seeing gusts up to around 50mph and briefly gusting to 60mph during the spell of heavier rain in the evening.
Cross-Solent travel is likely to be affected, especially the Wightlink Yarmouth-Lymington route which will be suspended if gusts hit 25 knots (28mph).
The strong wind advisory is in force from 08:00 until 20:00 tomorrow.
