A woman is medically trapped inside her car after leaving the road and ploughing into 2 vehicles on a driveway in Carisbrooke this lunchtime (Saturday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are currently in attendance at Westmill Road, near the junction with Ward Close.
Firefighters from Newport are working to create suitable access to the vehicle for paramedics, who are yet to arrive at the incident. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has been alerted to the situation but have not yet assigned an ambulance.
Once fully assessed, a decision will be taken on the best way to extricate the driver.
Island Echo is told the car careered off the road at around 12:15, narrowly avoiding hitting a pedestrian walking their dog.
It is currently unclear what caused the incident, which has resulted in the road being closed in both directions by Police.
A Hyundai and a Peugeot – which were both parked on the driveway – have been significantly damaged in the collision after being hit by a black VW Golf.
UPDATE @ 13:20 – A second appliance from Ryde has been stood down whilst en-route to the incident.
The female driver remains in the vehicle more than an hour after crashing. Paramedics are yet to arrive on scene.
UPDATE – The casualty, who is understood to have broken her ankle, has been transferred to St Mary’s Hospital for further treatment.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear to take the car’s doors off to create more working space.
The matter has been left in the hands of insurance companies.

Unfortunately the ambulance service is too busy dealing with time wasters and putting the service under pressure. Ambulances are for emergencies folks, not boos boos and frustrated people who should now better.
dealing with drunks who have fallen over.
“medically trapped” and yet no paramedics or ambulance after an hour?????
May I wish the driver a speedy recovery. We can only be thankful that no one else was hurt in this frightening incident
“The female driver remains in the vehicle more than an hour after crashing. Paramedics are yet to arrive on scene.”
Hope the Paramedics arrive soon! Not a criticism as they are on the go all the time but feel for the woman.
There was a driveway crash in Ryde last week, now Newport. Is there a link? How does this happen?
Yes,there is a link,both women drivers.
Some people need to learn how to drive properly. Totally irresponsible. I hope the owner of the other two cars gives them what for.
