WightFibre says it now holds 30% share of the broadband market on the Isle of Wight, with some 21,000 customers signed up for the local service. The Cowes-based firm’s full-fibre network now blankets 80% of all properties on the Island, bringing ultrafast connectivity to homes and businesses alike. As a result, WightFibre’s penetration is soaring, capturing a significant slice of the broadband market on the Island. It is hoped that by the end of 2025, 90% of Island homes and businesses will have the option of signing up to WightFibre’s full-fibre network, increasing to 98% by the end of 2027. The rollout of the gigabit Island project has been aided by the BDUK Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, with £3.1million of vouchers claimed to date. John Irvine, CEO of WightFibre, shares his excitement:
“Our growing customer base and unwavering loyalty speak volumes. We’re not just a provider; we’re rapidly becoming woven into the very fabric of the Isle of Wight. WightFibre’s secret sauce? Localness. It’s what sets us apart, allowing us to deliver exceptional service at competitive prices.”
Andy Matthews, Head of Greenfield at Infracapital, adds:
“As WightFibre nears its completion on the Island, we are very pleased with the progress. This is a real success story and the connectivity will bring social inclusion, jobs and many wider benefits to its communities”.

Would never use them. Terrible service and coverage
Neither would I.
You must be the minority then, been with them two years, never had a problem, ever!
and miles cheaper than the nearest competitor.
Ye most are inbreed goons talk crap just for the sake of it..
You are talking crap. Installers were great, service is super fast, and no problems with connection issues. How do you know what you are talking about? If you won’t use them don’t criticise.
Great service and speed (Fibre connection to home). Much better than any provider that I have had on the mainland.
What a weird comment.
80% of the Island covered, going up to 98% in a few years time. How is that ‘terrible coverage’? What coverage exactly are you expecting, 150%, 200%?
And, how do you know it’s a ‘terrible service’ if, apparently, you would ‘never use them’?
People really do write the most stupid things here.
Maybe it’s where you live because I halved my bill by switching to them, actually paid less when I moved to fast fibre and have found their customer service absolutely excellent. They actually contacted me to say I had been paying too much due to an administrative error and refunded the overpayment. I can’t fault them on price or service.
Total crap been with them over 20 years been fantastic..
Why bother ? ..the prices they charge…if you’re a pensioner you can get bt essentials for £15 a month..
And if you’re working-age professional working from home, you bother.
I am working age and run an on line business and there is no hope of getting fibre. Wight Fibre told me it will be at least 3 year’s before it will even think of delivering where I have my business!
According to the BT website, you need to be on ‘No income’ i.e. on benefits to qualify.
‘Who can get BT Home Essentials?New or existing BT customers can apply. You’ll also need to be receiving one of these benefits to qualify:
‘Otherwise there are no special discounts for pensioners’
Plus, it’s slower.
Their cheapest package is £29/month.
I currently only pay £20/month for 76mbps broadband. Reliable and always up to speed. Enough to stream in 4k. I don’t have a lot of people sharing the link so there’s no reason to upgrade… except that they aren’t able to connect to my home anyway (in central Ryde, just off Union st). Nothing lost there.
I pay £18a month for 120 mbps upload and download with wightfibre, never had an issue
I was eager to get connected with WightFibre, after over a year with a very expensive leased line. The installation and service have been amazing and I have had zero reliability issues with the connection. I work from home and without WightFibre, this would mean a poor, unprofessional experience or continuing to pay the equivalent of a second mortgage for the leased line.
They can jog on just out of principle for the state they have left the islands already terrible Rds!
Obviously one of their fans has voted you down because he/she either works for them or couldn’t care less.
about what they do to ours roads and pavements. Typical S****Fibre!
For anyone who works from home, fast Internet is as essential as electricity and even more important than running water. If that means digging up the roads, so be it. I do understand however that people who don’t need fast Internet would be annoyed since they get the inconvenience without the benefit.
One can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs.
Here Here, same for me and my family
We have had enough of all the road works
many of which have been poorly sign posted.
We wouldn’t have Wight Fibre if it was free of charge.
Twats…ok bigger twats i could’nt post just twats input to short..
That’s called cutting off your nose to spite your face! I’d be over the moon with free broadband.
Ye shiteland roads have done amasing things..just look at middle road..i nearly cried it was so funny..
Can’t complain at all, great installation, super fast and MUCH cheaper than my previous Contract with Sky.
People with short memories will not know that S**** Fibre is the reincarnation of the old “Wightcable Continental Shelf” gang which 20 years ago infected the Island with cable TV the island did not want OR need. Their grubby cables can still be seen in many parts and have never been cleared. Thinkbroadband, the gold standard ISP comparison site consistently list IDNet as the best ISP in the UK and have done so for many years. Why would anyone in their right mind leave such a company to join this bunch of wallies. Their wish to be the only ISP, to cover at least 98% of the island should sound alarm bells when it comes down to a monopoly because then – they can charge you whatever they like. Stay away from them!
Wow you don’t have a clue do you! It’s not a monopoly when Openreach are already here covering the island allowing other broadband providers like TalkTalk, Sky etc to re-sell the service.
The island didn’t want you, yet here you are.
I have encountered you over on the other site and your debating skills have not improved. I did not SAY they were a monopoly, just that their aim is to be one. You obviously did not live here when the “Wightcable/Continental Shelf” bunch of chancers decided to desecrate the island with miles of their UNWANTED Cable TV nonsense, but nonsense is your language of choice, so you probably have their cable too.
WightFibre’s 900bmps is a must for me.
Professional couple means I split that in half with my Ms, and we both have multiple devices from PCs and phones, to consoles and NAS.
Then there’s a secure company VPN taking another 10-50% of speed.
This needs to handle all the business as usual: my camera on Zoom, Slack in the background, cloud sync, OS updates, provide access to cloud services without much ping.
And every once in a while, with all the above running, I need to quickly download backups or big data sets for work.
Ok Mr Wightfiber, great sales pitch!
Bet you’re a great laugh down the pub!
Fees start at 28.95/month for the non benefit claiming islander. The larger companies offer deals much less than this.
Sounds like he’d make a good MP… too late, he missed the boat 🙂
I’d rather have the BT ‘pole to house’ fibre. I’ve seen the sh** jobs WF do getting from their pavement port to a house.. barely under the surface and green trunking visible. Just plain poor workmanship in places. Near me, there’s quite a few BT fibre takeups, pole to house and they’re well pleased.900mbps for £39.95
They offer excellent service. I found over two years with them. The only thing I don’t like doing is renting home pods Wi-Fi. I bought my own system.
One thing people don’t understand or perhaps don’t realise is unlike BT even there for fibre connection WF Complete unshared fibre access to your property one of the few providers in the country that offer this.
