Local firm Wight Coaches is celebrating not only 5 years in business but also its position as a key player in the Island’s transport sector.
What started as a small, locally-owned company has rapidly expanded into a team of 9 drivers with a fleet of 7 modern coaches and 2 minibuses, headed up by Islanders Ben Cooke and Josh Harris.
As the largest privately-owned coach operator on the Isle of Wight, Wight Coaches proudly serves local schools, businesses and visitors, while earning a reputation for exceptional service both locally and further afield.
The firm has also been involved in some of the Isle of Wight’s most iconic events, providing transport for high-profile acts performing at the Isle of Wight Festival. In addition, for the past 2 years, the firm has spread festive cheer through its Christmas Light Tours around the Isle of Wight.
The company’s commitment to quality service earned it the prestigious Micro Business of the Year Award at the 2024 Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce Awards. Additionally, Wight Coaches was highly commended in the Growth Business of the Year category, reflecting its impressive expansion and success since its wheels started turning.
Josh Harris, Director, says:
“The success of our business wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic driver team. We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, and we’re grateful for the hard work and dedication of every member of our team.
“We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far and are excited about the future”.
2 of the 9 drivers joined the company with little to no experience in coach driving. These drivers, trained by approved driving instructor Paul Wheeler, are now an integral part of the Wight Coaches family.
Ben Cooke adds:
“We wouldn’t be where we are today without the loyalty and trust of our customers.
“Whether it’s the schools that rely on us to get students to London for a school trip, the couples who depend on us for providing their wedding guest’s transport, or the families and tourists we take on adventures, we are so thankful for each and every one of you. Your support has been invaluable, and we are excited to continue working with you for many years to come.”
As Wight Coaches looks to the future, the company remains focused on providing the best possible service for the Isle of Wight and beyond. In addition to its local work, Wight Coaches has expanded its reach, providing transport for international trips to destinations like Disneyland Paris, Amsterdam, and the battlefields of Ypres.

@Ohlins46 – your comment is……? No ‘congratulations’ to the company or anything, just a load on moaning and griping about what a terrible job it could be. Cut these lads some slack. Your comment is pointless and sad.
