Forecasters are warning that up to 30mm of rain could fall across the Isle of Wight in just a few hours, prompting a yellow weather warning to be issued for tomorrow (Thursday).
IW Met Service says that a spell of heavy and potentially thundery showers will move through during the early hours of tomorrow morning, bringing the risk of flash flooding.
Rainfall totals will be highly variable from location to location, with anything from as little as 2-4mm in some areas but as high as 20-30mm in others, all falling in the space of just a few hours.
As the day progresses, a few locally very heavy showers will develop, with further spells of more persistent downpours likely by the evening, bringing further locally high rainfall totals of anything from 5-20mm, falling over a short space of time.
Islanders are warned about the risk of localised flash flooding in the usual prone areas, as well as the risk of rivers potentially breaching their banks.
The warning is in force from 00:01 until 23:00 tomorrow (Thursday 26th September).
