Ventnor began the new cricket season with friendly victories over Merrow at Steephill over the weekend.
On Saturday, Marc-Antony Eysele hit a fine 90 and with Tom Friend (42), Ross Whyte (26) and Hugh Calloway (32) supporting, the home team totalled 225-6 from their 35 overs.
The tourists managed a meagre total of 44 all out in reply, Toby Corbin (4-8) and Mark Holmes (3-15) doing the damage.
On Sunday, skipper Ben Woodhouse with a splendid 96 led the way, backed up by Pat Morris with 39 and James Attrill (24) as the second team posted 232-6.
The visitors were restricted to 167, Ben Attrill taking 4-18 and Bruno Lambert 2-33.
This Saturday (11th April), Ventnor welcome Lymington for a first and second team double header at Newclose and Steephill respectively with both friendly games starting at 13:00.
On Sunday, Arreton are the visitors to Steephill at 13:30.
