A fallen tree on the railway line at Brading has forced the suspension of Island Line trains this afternoon (Monday).
South Western Railway has announced that services between Ryde and Shanklin have been brought to a halt as a result of the obstruction.
It is hoped that the tree will be cleared before 16:00, allowing trains to resume to a normal timetable.
Island Line experienced a similar problem on Friday, as photographed above. A tree came down near to John’s footpath, which crosses the line at Brading.
UPDATE – The service has now resumed following clearance of the line obstruction.

I believe these trees on the line is a valid reason for stopping services not the leaves from these trees.
Even though ‘leaves on the line’ were blamed today for the collision at Salisbury last year? Damp leaves crushed by train wheels create a teflon-like substance that’s very slippery and very hard to remove, no laughing matter.
