Thousands of revellers heading to this week’s Isle of Wight Festival don’t need to worry about wellies this year as temperatures are set to peak at 23c with plenty of sunshine over the 4-day event.
Local forecasters IW Met Service are predicting sun for Thursday through to Sunday with fairly light winds from the north and temperatures ranging between the high teens and low 20s.
Thursday
It will be a fairly cloudy start to the day with some mist and fog possible, but sunny spells will follow throughout the rest of the day. Don’t be surprised to see some clouds following in towards the afternoon, but these will be patchy at best.
Winds will be around 10-14mph, possibly a little stronger in exposed areas. Temperature of 18-20c expected.
Friday
Long sunny spells are expected on Friday with some cloud developing in the afternoon. The cloud will be patchy but the sun will break through.
Wind speeds will drop to 8-13mph and temperatures rising to a comfortable 20-21c temp to provide a warm and pleasant day for all.
Saturday
It will be another sunny day on the Isle of Wight with temperatures reaching the high teens or low 20s, may be slightly higher. Patchy cloud is possible, but there is a low risk of this. Winds from the north – light to moderate.
Sunday
This year’s Isle of Wight Festival will end on a high note with temperatures reaching 21-23c, especially in central parts of the Island such as Newport. An increase in cloud is possible, especially in the afternoon. Sunshine could be hazy due to high level cloud but winds will be light
Isle of Wight Festival 2018 will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the festival with performances from the likes of Kasabian, The Killers, Depeche Mode, Liam Gallagher, The Script, Nile Rodgers & Chic and Manic Street Preachers. The event at Seaclose Park, Newport gets underway on Thursday (21st June).
