A 200-year-old hotel on the Isle of Wight has been put up for sale, less than a year after around 250 cannabis plants were found growing on its top floor.
The once-prominent Holliers Hotel in Shanklin’s Old Village has been listed on RightMove this week through Island-based Estate Agents, Elliot Lincoln.
The hotel, which was still being run as such and therefore welcoming guests, was also home to approximately 250 cannabis plants, which were being housed and nurtured on its top floor.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police raided the Church Road establishment at 08:00 on the morning of 23rd December, where cannabis plants worth an estimated £150,000 were seized.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary arrested 3 men, 56-year-old hotellier Wayne Newton, 50-year-old Artan Ulndreaj and 27-year-old Kevin Brako, on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cannabis, a charge they later admitted.
The trio were handed a combined prison sentence of 46 months when they appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court last month (8th May).

Listed for £750,000, not as a going concern, the hotel carcus boasts 30 bedrooms, measuring approximately 32,000sqft equipped with bars, a restaurant, kitchen and guest areas.
