A teenage boy from Freshwater who was arrested on suspicion of terror offences last year will face no further action, with the case against him now dropped.
Counter Terrorism police, supported by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, moved in on a property near Pound Green in Freshwater on 26th July last year, detaining a then 16-year-old boy on suspicion of dissemination of terrorist publications under Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006 and collection of information under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Officers searched through a car and took away bags of evidence from a residential address. In Newport, searches were also carried out near Trafalgar Road.
The teenager was questioned and later released on bail until October, which was then extended to January and again to April. He was then further bailed when a file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration.
However, it has been confirmed by Counter Terrorism Policing South East that no charges have been brought against the teen, who has now been released with no further action.
Island Echo can now publish further information about where the raids took place, including previously unpublished photos.
Terrorism can be classed as simply liking a comment on a dodgy religion Facebook group.
