A 16-year-old boy from the Isle of Wight has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences this morning (Wednesday).
Detectives and other specialist officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE), supported by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, descended on a property in the West Wight earlier today.
They have been searching a residential address and a vehicle as part of their ongoing investigation.
It is also known that officers have been present at an address in the Newport area as well, confirmed as being connected to the same operation.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been arrested on suspicion of dissemination of terrorist publications under Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006 and collection of information under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
He remains in custody at this time and is being quizzed by Counter Terrorism teams.
