Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team rider Stuart Waite travelled to Thruxton motor circuit on Tuesday to race in the joint 3rd & 4th category crit race.
Waite lined up in the 150 strong field where the pace was high from the off, with larger teams aiming to try and thin down the big field.
Waite was sat in a good position for the whole race. With 2 laps to go he decided to make a break, no one came along so he went solo. He maintained the lead until about 500m before the line where he was swallowed up by the peloton.
The brave breakaway attempt had sapped all of his energy, and so with no sprint left in him he rolled over the line safely at the front end of the pack.
