Struggling Bournemouth pegged Newport IW FC back twice in a 2-2 draw at St George’s Park on Saturday afternoon.
Port took an early lead through Joe Butcher after just 3mins after he broke free from the Bournemouth defence. However, the home side’s advantage didn’t last long as Bournemouth found a way back into the match on 13mins; an unnecessary corner was given away from which the visitors headed an equaliser via Connor Doe.
On 38mins, Joe Butcher completed a brace, poking the ball into the net from the edge of the area.
The second half had barely began when Bournemouth once again found a way back into the game, Connor Doe once again finding the net for the visitors. The goal spurred Bournemouth on and they dominated the next 20mins, putting lots of pressure on the Newport defence.
Port picked up in the final 15mins and had opportunties to win the game, but too many mistakes and giving away possession meant the islanders couldn’t find a winner.
